Lombard police have arrested an adult volunteer at Glenbard East High School following an allegation of an inappropriate relationship with a student there, according to a message from the principal emailed to the school community.

"Although legal requirements prevent us from revealing specific information about this situation, we handled this matter with the utmost urgency and immediately followed all reporting and investigative protocols," Glenbard East Principal Shahe Bagdasarian wrote.

Lombard police Saturday said no further information would be available from them until at least Monday.

In Bagdasarian's email, he wrote of school officials' dedication to student safety and the gravity with which they regard allegations of this kind.

"When the allegation was brought to our attention, we immediately reported it to law enforcement," he said.
