POP 2000 tour brings boy bands back to Naperville

Lovers of the peppy boy-band pop of the late 1990s and early 2000s are the target audience for the POP 2000 tour, hosted by Lance Bass and coming Aug. 31 to Naperville.

Bass, formerly of the boy band *NSYNC, will host the show as O-Town, Aaron Carter, Ryan Cabrera and Tyler Hilton take the stage at 7 p.m. during the Naperville Jaycees' Last Fling festival.

As a member of *NSYNC, Bass and fellow bandmates Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick sold more than 60 million CDs worldwide. Afterward, Bass became an actor, producer, writer and entrepreneur.

Now, the Naperville Jaycees call him the "perfect host" for a tour that will help 20- and 30-something boy-band fans relive music from the turn of the millennium.

O-Town, formed on the 1999 first season of the MTV/ABC show "Making the Band," went on to record top singles "All or Nothing" and "Liquid Dreams." The band got a reboot in 2014 to release a third album and now is touring on the 2017 EP "Empty Spaces."

Aaron Carter released a self-titled album in 1997 and followed it with "Aaron's Party" in 2000 before also appearing in TV and movies including "Lizzie McGuire," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," "7th Heaven," "Ella Enchanted," "PopStar" and "Supercross."

Ryan Cabrera is known as the singer-songwriter behind romantic songs "On the Way Down" and "True" from his 2004 album "Take It All Away."

Tyler Hilton released a self-titled album in 2000, but the Jaycees say fans will remember him best from his acting roles, such as Chris Keller in "One Tree Hill" on The WB, now called The CW.

Presale tickets are available online at http://lastfling.org/MainStage.

General admission to the show at Rotary Hill along the Naperville Riverwalk is $10 during the presale, which ends Sunday. Tickets to a pit area near the front of the stage are $20. VIP "Carillon Experience" tickets are $90. They include a catered, multicourse meal, drinks, snacks, access to the front of the stage during the shows and a potential meet-and-greet with the bands.
