Welcome home veterans in North Chicago
The public is encouraged to join family and friends at 4:30 p.m. Sunday to welcome home six Korean War and 16 Vietnam War veterans from their Lake County Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C.
Attendees can make posters, bring American flags and wear red, white and blue for the event at North Chicago Veterans Memorial Park, Sheridan Road and 18th St.
The ceremony will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Parking is available at the memorial site.
The Navy Great Lakes Ceremonial Band, Marine Air Control Group 48 Color Guard and Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band, will be featured. Speakers include local, county and state officials.
