Retiring Barrington Countryside fire district trustee honored

Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District has honored a longtime board trustee heading into retirement.

Barrington Hills resident Paul Heinze received the kudos at a recent meeting for his nearly 25 years of service on the fire board. Department members presented Heinze with a commemorative fire helmet and badge, as well as the first Chief's Challenge Coin.

Board President Keith Hanson said Heinze had an "unparalleled record of service."

"I appreciate the opportunity we had to build a fire department. That's something not many people have the chance to do," Heinze said.
