Chicago man admits to trying to rob 13-year-old girl in St. Charles Twp.

A Chicago man pleaded guilty to attempting to rob a 13-year old in St. Charles Township as she walked home from school last year.

On Dec. 11, 44-year-old Javier Prado of Chicago approached the victim and asked for money as she was walking on Colley Drive, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

When the girl tried to avoid Prado, he grabbed her and took her to the ground, searching her for money, the release said.

The victim reportedly bit Prado and managed to free herself, run home and call the police.

When police arrived, they found Prado nearby with a fresh bite mark on his arm, according to the release.

Prado pleaded guilty to attempted robbery Thursday in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence.
