Snow making for a rough morning commute

Light snow continues to fall in the suburbs, and weather officials say additional snowfall is expected to last throughout the day.

The snow is causing slick conditions, causing minor traffic crashes in Hawthorn Woods, Lakemoor, Vernon Hills and Bartlett, Sigalert is reporting.

People are urged to use caution when traveling Monday.

Snow showers are expected to continue before 10 a.m., with a daytime snow accumulation of up to an inch possible is some locations, meteorologists forecast.

A chance of freezing rain and snow moves into the area overnight Wednesday and lingers through Thursday, officials say. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

The break in the weather finally comes Friday, when forecasters expect 50 degree temperatures to move in Friday afternoon.
