Wojnicki, Strom win party nominations in Kane County Board District 15

Republican incumbent Barbara Wojnicki beat primary challenger Austin Lawler Tuesday, while Lucas Strom beat Gerald Palmere in the Democratic primary for Kane County Board District 15, unofficial results show.

With all precincts counted, Wojnicki lead with 1,573 votes to Lawler's 752 votes. Strom had 1,049 votes to Palmere's 432 votes.

Wojnicki, 65, of St. Charles, has served as a forest preserve district commissioner, Campton Township trustee, a member of the Campton Township Republican Organization, and as chairwoman of Kane County Central Committee. She supports the county board keeping the property tax levy flat as it has for six years, and reducing the number of county board seats from 24 to 18 by increasing the population in each district to roughly 30,000 residents in the year 2020, when the next census and redistricting occurs.

Strom, 40, of Maple Park, is a vice president at Farmers Business Network and owner of Strom Farms LLC. He serves as president of Kane County Pheasants Forever, and previously was a junior board member at Accretive Health. He supports the county managing costs and making cuts where it makes sense or consolidating departments. He also favors reducing the number of county board seats to 18 and redistricting based on 2020 census.

The winners will face off in November.
