Elmhurst's Wilder Mansion offers one-stop bridal shopping

Planning a wedding can be both intimidating and stressful.

There's just so much to do and so little room for error as everyone involved strives to create a perfect day for the bride and groom.

Which is why the fifth annual Wilder Mansion Bridal Show, held Sunday in Elmhurst, was the perfect place for folks looking for a relaxing, one-stop-shopping kind of day where they could meet with nearly three dozen wedding vendors, from florists to DJs to hotel representatives.

And, yes, they also could check out what the mansion at 211 S. Prospect Ave. had to offer as a venue for receptions, showers and the like.

"It's more of a boutique show," Meagan Dovidio, the mansion's facility rental supervisor, said in the days leading up to the event.

Dovidio, who jokes that her title is a "long way to say 'wedding lady,'" said the show offers a more leisurely approach to wedding planning and gives participants plenty of one-on-one time with the vendors.

She said it's not unusual for several hundred people to visit the free show.

If you weren't able to get there, but have questions about the mansion, visit weddings@epd.org or call (630) 993-8186.
