Two men injured in Aurora crash that closes Bilter Road

A two-vehicle crash in Aurora sent two men to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash closed a stretch of Bilter Road between DuPage Parkway and the Reagan Memorial Tollway for several hours.

A preliminary investigation indicates an SUV heading west on Bilter crossed the centerline and hit a van going east head-on about 1:50 p.m., police said in a statement on the department's Facebook page.

Aurora firefighters had to free the drivers from both vehicles. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Both men are from Aurora. The driver of the van, a GMC Sierra, was born in 1969, and the driver of the SUV, a Ford Explorer, was born in 1996, but police could not immediately provide exact ages.

It also wasn't immediately clear if their injuries are life-threatening.
