Fun with fashion benefits domestic violence victims

Models wore light-colored dresses and Hawaiian shirts fitting with the event's cruise wear theme Sunday as they walked the runway during WINGS' 11th annual Resale Fashion Show in Hoffman Estates.

The runway fashion show featured clothing for women, men and children selected from the inventory of items donated at WINGS' resale shops in Arlington Heights, Niles and Schaumburg.

More than 450 people attended the show, raising almost $100,000 to benefit WINGS' programs providing shelter, education and other services to families impacted by domestic violence.

"As the community donates to our stores, that helps us to turn that money into helping victims of domestic families and their children," WINGS CEO Rebecca Darr said Sunday. "We're dealing with the issue of domestic violence on a day in and day out basis, and this is a very fun way for people to support what we do and helping people get out of their situations."
