3 Algonquin businesses fail liquor checks after undercover operation

Three Algonquin businesses failed underage liquor compliance checks after an operation by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission and law enforcement officials from McHenry County.

Two restaurants, Cucina Bella at 220 S. Main Street and Bulldog Ale House at 1520 S. Randall Road, and Algonquin Tobacco and Liquor at 1117 S. Main Street failed the compliance check, which involved underage participants from nearby high schools and colleges, according to a police report from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.

This is the second time Bulldog Ale House has failed such an inspection, the release said.

Inspections like this are regularly conducted by law enforcement officials, who randomly visit stores and restaurants in areas with frequent underage liquor sales, according to the release.
