Gurnee police investigate threat against school, find no danger

Gurnee police have determined there's no danger to Woodland Middle School after investigating a threat made by a student Tuesday.

The threat was made during afternoon bus calls. Another student reported it to an adult, according to an email sent to district parents Wednesday.

District spokeswoman Carolyn Waller Gordon said police were called immediately. They interviewed several students and determined the threat was unsubstantiated.

"We're glad the student came forward to tell an adult," Gordon said. Because it happened at the end of the day, most students were unaware of it, she added.

Gordon said officials can't talk about any disciplinary measures that might have been taken, but the letter to parents said students engaging in threats "will face significant consequences."
