Aurora police seize nearly $20,000 of marijuana

An Aurora man is facing felony drug charges after police say they found him in possession of two pounds of marijuana worth nearly $20,000, authorities said Wednesday.

Aaron J. Soloff, 23, of the 600 block of Westgate Drive, has been charged in Kane County with manufacture or delivery of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis, both felonies, police said.

About 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 20, police said Soloff was a passenger in a car that rolled through a stop sign at Elmwood Drive and Plum Street, not far from West Aurora High School. A couple of special operations investigators pulled over the vehicle, which was driven by a 28-year-old Yorkville man, and then saw Soloff make "suspicious movements" that led them to believe he may have been attempting to hide or destroy something.

Police said they ordered Soloff out of the vehicle and searched it, finding two pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags in plain view on the back seat. Police also seized several cartridges of cannabis oil. The drugs combined had a street value of roughly $19,540, police said.

Police released the driver of the vehicle after giving him a traffic citation.
