Former state contractor pleads guilty to stealing from elderly

A former employee of Senior Services Associates, a state of Illinois contractor based in Kane and McHenry Counties, has pleaded guilty for stealing money from an elderly victim, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Mary E. Pfingston, a 41-year-old Joliet woman, entered her plea in court on Friday. Pfingston, who is also known as Mary E. McMillan, faces a sentence of probation or between 3 to 7 years in prison.

According to the State's Attorney's Office, Pfingston stole between $5,000 and $50,000 in 2015 from an elderly person who was living in a long-term care facility in North Aurora and was under Pfingston's care.

Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler, Jr., accepted Pfingston's plea and set her sentencing hearing for March 22, 2018.

According to the State's Attorney's Office, Pfingston remains in Kane County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
