Elmhurst officials are reminding residents that city ordinances prohibit parking on city streets for eight hours after a 2-inch snowfall.

With the National Weather Service calling for the possibility of 8 to 14 inches of snow through Saturday morning, police will not allow any overnight street parking on Thursday and Friday, officials said. They also are asking residents not to shovel or blow snow into the street.

Due to the potential for heavy snow, officials also are cautioning that garbage pick up may take longer than usual.
