Hampshire man gets 10 years prison for burglaries, soliciting minor

A 24-year-old Hampshire man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting to burglaries in early 2016 and solicitation of a minor while he was free on bond.

Timothy J. Clark, formerly of the 44W500 block of Oakshire Lane, pleaded guilty late last week to residential burglary and the solicitation charges, both felonies, and also must register as a sex offender after his release from prison, according to Kane County prosecutors and the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Clark was charged with two burglaries in February and March 2016. While free on bond he had a relationship with a 15-year-old girl from October to December 2016.

According to a search warrant for his phone, Clark engaged in sex acts and smoked marijuana with the teen in November 2016 while he was on electronic home monitoring after posting bond on the burglary charges.

He was charged in early 2017 with solicitation of a minor and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, records show, and had been held at the county jail on $350,000 bail, records show.

Judge Linda Abrahamson accepted Clark's guilty plea and sentenced him to seven years in prison for burglary and three years on the solicitation charges.

He had faced a maximum of 15 years prison for burglary and up to five years for solicitation.

The sentences must be served consecutively because the crimes occurred on separate occasions instead of in one act. He can have his sentences cut in half for good behavior.

Records show he served half of a five-year prison term for a 2013 arrest on felony charges of possession of a stolen vehicle.
