Fishing derby and winter festival
The 58th Ice Fishing Derby and Winter Festival fundraiser Northern Illinois Conservation Club will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 at the Thirsty Turtle Brew and View Pub on the west side of Channel Lake, 42273 N. Woodbine Ave., Antioch. The derby and festival is the longest-run winter event in Illinois and NICC's major fundraiser. Tickets are $3 or two for $5. There will be hourly raffles, and games for kids and adults. The club was established in 1960 to encourage education, conservation and preservation of wildlife and their habitat.
