Hawthorn Woods road reopens after utility pole repair
Old McHenry Road in Hawthorn Woods has reopened after its closure earlier Sunday, when a vehicle struck a utility pole, snapping it near its bottom.
The crash occurred after 8 a.m., leaving the broken pole hovering above the roadway between Acorn and Abbey Glen drives.
Lake Zurich fire officials announced that the pole had been repaired and the road was reopened shortly before 11 a.m.
