Child porn trial ends in McHenry man's conviction

A federal jury convicted a 29-year-old McHenry man of multiple child pornography charges following a four-day trial that ended Friday in Rockford.

Michael L. Chaparro could face as much as 20 years in prison after being convicted of viewing the illegal images and transporting child pornography across state lines. He must serve at least 85 percent of the prison sentence.

Images recovered in the investigation included minors younger than 12, prosecutors said.

Chaparro sent images to others in Pennsylvania and Texas, according to court records.

The images were sent in 2014. Chaparro was arrested in 2016.

No sentencing date has been slated.
