Northwest Community Hospital will host a blood drive Thursday, Feb. 15, in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

It's scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. in the hospital's Mallard Room, 800 W. Central Road. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID or blood donor card, or two forms of identification. They should also eat a healthy meal and drink an extra 16-ounce glass of water and/or fluids before the donation.

"It's critical to bank enough blood at our hospital to provide quality health care for our entire patient population, many of whom will need transfusions for a variety of reasons, including emergent care and cancer treatment," Dr. Daniel Reaven, an emergency medicine physician, said in a news release.
