Veterans career fair Wednesday in Des Plaines

The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry is hosting a career fair for military veterans from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood Ave.

More than 30 employers with hiring opportunities are confirmed to attend. They'll be seeking employees in areas including administration, logistics, IT, management, manufacturing, medical, sales and marketing, security and police, retail, restaurant and hospitality, and more.

Participating employers will have an opportunity to attend a "How to Hire Veterans" welcome reception /discussion from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. Veterans Affairs will be presenting, along with U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky and other veteran mentors at this event.

Career Fair partners include, TMA (Technology Manufacturing Association), Rivers Casino, Harper and Oakton colleges, Veterans Affairs, Jewel-Osco, Daily Herald Media Group and Journal & Topics Media Group.

All preregistered attendees will be entered into a special drawing to win a new HP laptop computer.
