Kane County coroner investigating shooting death

The Kane County Coroner's office reported that an Alsip man died Wednesday at an Aurora hospital of gunshot wounds.

In a news release, the coroner said the victim, identified as 27-year-old Ricardo Chairez, was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m. in the emergency room of Rush Copley Medical Center.

According to a Facebook post by Kendall County sheriff's deputies, police responded at 7:08 p.m. Wednewsday to the 0-100 block of Chatham Place in Oswego Township for a report of shots fired and found Chairez.

An autopsy was performed Friday. Toxicology samples will be sent to a forensic laboratory.
