Florida man faces sex abuse charges in McHenry County
A 61-year-old Florida facing charges of sexually abusing a young girl with a disability is being held in Woodstock after his arrest on Wednesday.
Manuel A. Rivera of Tampa, Florida, is accused of predatory sexual assault of a child younger than 13 and multiple counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a complaint filed June 30 in the McHenry County Court. Rivera is also accused of sexually abusing a person with a handicap on June 28, 2017, court records show.
The charge of sexually assaulting a child is a class X felony, and Rivera could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
Rivera is due to appear in court for his arraignment on Monday, Jan. 22.
