Nobody injured in Hoffman Estates house fire

No injuries were reported in a fire that left a Hoffman Estates home uninhabitable Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.

Crews responded about 2:05 p.m. to the 4900 block of Chambers Drive and found smoke coming from the roof of a two-story, single-family house, according to a news release from the Hoffman Estates Fire Department. The fire was located in a second-floor bedroom near the front of the structure.

Firefighters fought the blaze through the bedroom window before entering the home and extinguishing the remaining flames, officials said.

A resident, who was alerted of the fire by smoke detectors, and two dogs were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived. There were no other occupants.

The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to the home and its contents, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
