District 15 teachers featured at state conference

Several Palatine Township Elementary District 15 educators were selected to present at the recent Illinois Conference for Teachers Serving Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students in Oak Brook.

Central Road Elementary School bilingual teachers Cynthia Torres and Megan Schellinger's session was titled, "Using Dictation to Teach Biliteracy." During the session, they discussed how to use the strategy of dictation to improve reading, writing and spelling in a biliterate classroom.

Jane Addams Elementary School's English as a second language teacher, Gabrielle Devlin, and fourth-grade instructor Shemka Muareni also were featured at the conference. They presented "It's All Connected! Social Emotional Needs and Language Development."
