Schaumburg crash injures two

Firefighters had to extricate a man from his Ford F-150 pickup truck after a crash involving a semi tractor-trailer happened Wednesday afternoon on Irving Park Road in Schaumburg.

The pickup truck driver suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious condition, Schaumburg Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said.

The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries and was taken to Amita Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Lindhurst said.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday on Irving Park Road just east of Mitchell Boulevard, according to police.

Lindhurst said Wednesday night that she did not yet have the results of officers' traffic accident investigation.
