Elk Grove Winter Market keeps summer alive

The many joys of browsing and shopping farmers markets for fresh produce, cheese, eggs, meat and miscellaneous other foods and household items largely disappear this time of year.

A few places, however, bring a bit of summer to the winter season. The Elk Grove Farmers Market this year has added a Winter Market, which was open Saturday.

A steady stream of patrons could choose from items at about 20 vendor stalls inside and outside Christus Victor Church, 1045 S. Arlington Heights Road.

The market will operate from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays each month through April. Upcoming dates are Dec. 2 and 16, Jan. 6 and 20, Feb. 3 and 17, March 3 and 17, and April 7 and 21.
