Autopsy shows nothing suspicious on man who died in McHenry County jail
The McHenry County coroner's office said more investigation is needed to discover why a Cary man died while in custody in the county jail Friday.
An autopsy Sunday on Thomas M. Doheny revealed no suspicious injuries nor significant natural disease, according to Coroner Anne Majewski. The cause of death is pending further investigation.
Doheny, 51, was found unresponsive in a single-occupancy cell during rounds Friday night, and jail staff members started lifesaving measures, McHenry County sheriff's office said in a news release Saturday.
Doheny was taken to Centegra Woodstock Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:53 p.m.
The investigation was turned over to McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team and the coroner's office.
The sheriff's office said Doheny had been incarcerated at the McHenry County jail since Nov. 1 on a contempt of court charge.
