Dogs put through their paces at St. Charles event

The Fox Valley Dog Training Club began its two-day run of obedience and rally trials Saturday at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles.

Dogs competed in five rally categories and three obedience classes.

Obedience classes are the mainstay of FVDTC, which was founded in 1948 and trains most Thursdays at the fairgrounds.

The group offers a range of classes: puppies, beginners, advanced obedience and conformation, along with seminars and workshops. It hosts AKC trials in obedience, rally and agility, as well as AKC Tracking Tests. Members are also involved in agility, herding, therapy dog work and other genres of training. The club welcomes all breeds, including mixed breeds.
