Believe Project 2017: Tell us who should be given $100

Think of what you could do with $100 - take the family to dinner, indulge the kids, treat yourself.

Or instead you could help a friend in need, maybe thank someone for doing good deeds.

That pay-it-forward mentality is the aim of the Believe Project.

For the fourth holiday season, we're inviting you to tell us how you would use $100 - not for yourself, but for someone else. Thanks to a donor who has seen firsthand that a little kindness can go a long way, the Believe Project just may make your generous wish come true.

The donor supplies us with 31 envelopes, each containing a $100 bill, and we send them to those of you who submit the most compelling stories for helping others.

Each day in December in the paper and online, we'll share the stories of deserving recipients, of people who need a hand, who could use a boost, who deserve applause.

In past years, money has gone toward people battling health problems, facing financial crises or working through tragedy, as well as to those who've always helped others and deserve a little something for themselves and those who simply could use a little recognition or joy in their lives.

Sometimes the people who submit their story match the $100 we send. And sometimes readers are inspired to donate or help others as well.

To tell us who you think deserves $100, visit events.dailyherald.com/believe-project no later than Friday, Dec. 8, but sooner would be better. Our benefactor will begin choosing recipients before December starts.

And each day this holiday season, we'll have another reason to believe in each other.
