Methamphetamine trafficking arrest made in Elgin
An Elgin man was charged after a police investigation into "high level" trafficking of methamphetamine, police said.
Marcos Martinez-Corcuera, of the 600 block of Cleveland Street, was arrested Wednesday and charged with unlawful delivery of more than 400 grams of methamphetamine. The crime carries a sentence of up to 50 years in prison upon conviction
Cmdr. Ana Lalley said the drugs recovered have a street value of $10,000 to $12,000. "This was not street-level dealing," she said.
No other arrests are anticipated after this investigation, she said.
"Central to our crime reduction strategy is removing from our community those who make their living destroying the lives of others," Chief Jeff Swoboda said in a Facebook post. "Please keep the tips coming regarding drug dealers in our city."
