Downtown Mount Prospect getting outdoor ice rink for winter

The Mount Prospect Ice Arena is sponsoring an outdoor skating rink this winter in downtown Mount Prospect. Called Northwest Lights, the rink will be open from Nov. 22 to March 4 in the area known as the small triangle along Northwest Highway between Elmhurst Road and Busse Avenue.

Open public skating will cost $5, with skate rentals available for $8. Free parking will be available in the village hall parking garage across Route 83 to the east or in the commuter parking lot to the south of Northwest Highway.

Hours of operation are weekdays from 4-10 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
