District 62 hosting ceremony for veterans

Central Elementary School in Des Plaines Elementary District 62 will host a public performance Wednesday to honor veterans. The performance is at 2:10 p.m. at the school located at 1526 Thacker St.

This performance is part of the school's efforts to recognize those who have served our country, spearheaded by Central's music teacher, Katie Tran.

Tran organized the fundraiser, Voices for Veterans, for the organization Wounded Warrior Project. The school raised over $900. Wounded Warrior Project serves veterans and service members who incurred injuries during their military service on or after 9/11.

Central has invited the Des Plaines VFW, parents and the community to see this tribute. Students and staff have been asked to share any names of family members who served in the military so they to could be honored during the performance.
