Rosemont pays $243,300 for 17 fireworks shows

Rosemont will pay $243,300 for 17 fireworks shows next year at its entertainment district under an agreement approved this week by the village board.

It's a $1,000 increase from last year's contract with Melrose Pyrotechnics Inc., which sets off the fireworks from the top of a nearby parking garage on Thursday nights during the Rockin' in the Park summer concert series, New Year's Eve and other special events.

The area now known as MB Financial Park, located east of the Tri-State Tollway and north of Balmoral Avenue, is getting a new name Jan. 1: Parkway Bank Park. Last month, the village inked a three-year naming rights deal with Parkway.
