Gages Lake students salute veterans with new flagpole

Students at Woodland Primary School in Gages Lake honored Veterans Day during a ceremony outside by their new flagpole Friday.

Bill Frangquist, Al Billings and Janet Billings of Gurnee American Legion post 771 assisted students in raising the American flag, the Illinois flag, and an air quality flag the day before the official Veterans Day observance on Saturday, Nov. 11.

This is the first time the flag pole has been used since it was installed over the summer.

Students recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang a song about their country during the ceremony in front of the school.
