Police investigate missing Elgin woman

Elgin police are investigating the disappearance of a 76-year-old woman who lives on the far east side.

Gail Peck was last seen in the 700 block of Littleton Trail, police said. The search involved a helicopter on Friday evening.

"We've received no information that would suggest she was abducted," Deputy Chief Bill Wolf said Saturday afternoon. "We are following up on many different leads."

Police posted on Facebook on Friday afternoon that they were trying to locate Peck. Police were told she left home to walk her dog, who returned home without her. She is described as 5 feet tall with black hair and hazel eyes.

In a Facebook post Saturday morning police said, "if we need more help from the community we know we can count on you, but at this time investigators have all the resources they need."

Neighbor John Freye said Peck and her adult son moved in a few weeks ago. Peck said she moved to be closer to relatives in Bartlett, Freye said. "We talked to her a couple of times but it wasn't much," Freye said.
