Pedestrian dies in Des Plaines crash

A 69-year-old woman died Wednesday night after she was struck by a car while crossing a Des Plaines road, police say.

Sneh Badhwar of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, was walking north at 8:27 p.m. when a vehicle going west in the curb lane of 1400 block of East Touhy Avenue struck her, according to a news release.


Badhwar was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where she was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m., according to the release.

She was not using a crosswalk at the time of the crash, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
