Police: Rockford man wanted on drug and weapons charges caught

A Lake County fugitive is behind bars this weekend after two weeks on the run, officials said.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff's Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service said they found Jordan Carmody, 23, under a blanket in a closet in his home on the 2500 block of North Rockton Avenue in Rockford.

Carmody was wanted on a felony warrant for unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated fleeing a peace officer and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest warrant stems from Oct. 3 when deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle Carmody was driving. Rather than pull over, Carmody fled, according to a sheriff's office news release. He then drove into a subdivision in the area of Route 22 and Cortland Drive, Lake Zurich, and fled from the vehicle. Deputies found cocaine and a sawed-off shotgun in Carmody's abandoned vehicle, the release said.

Deputies caught up with Carmody Wednesday. He is being held on $75,000 bail. His next court date is Tuesday.
