Grayslake area shooting death under investigation
The Lake County sheriff's office is investigating the shooting death of a Zion man early Saturday near Grayslake.
Sheriff's deputies were called for a report of shots fired about 1:36 a.m. on 33300 block of Lone Rock Road just east of Gages Lake and north of Route 120 in an unincorporated near Grayslake, according to Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Covelli.
Deputies found a 30-year-old Zion man, whose identify was not disclosed, shot and critically injured. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Covelli said.
Preliminary information indicates this was not a random shooting, according to Covelli. He said there was a gathering in the single-family home about the time of the shooting but did not disclose any details. No one else was injured by the gunfire, he added.
Anyone with information should call the Lake County Sheriff's Office at (847) 549-5200 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
