Bands, brews celebrate 'Rocktoberfest' at Naper Settlement

Naperville's heritage and German heritage are intricately tied, so on Saturday at Naper Settlement, it was time to celebrate them both with "Rocktoberfest."

The second day of the three-day Oktoberfest celebration was dedicated to rock, with musicians Die Musikmeisters Band, Freeze Dried and Stache warming up crowds with lively folk tunes and festive polka-rock.

The dance moves were as hot as the sausages sold among a spread of German cuisine and a sampling of brews. Suspenders and lederhosen kept revelers warm as well as they gathered under a large heated tent during the annual fundraiser for the Naperville Heritage Society.

Adults got competitive, too, as they took part in games including a stein-holding contest throughout the afternoon. Oktoberfest continues noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 523 S. Webster St.
