Man seriously injured in Streamwood crash

A man was seriously injured early Tuesday morning after crashing his pickup truck in Streamwood, officials said.

Streamwood firefighters responded to the crash near the intersection of Irving Park Road and Alexander Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday.

They found the man pinned in his heavily damaged pickup truck, which had left the road and struck a tree along Irving Park Road, officials said.

Firefighters worked for 25 minutes using hydraulic tools to peel the vehicle away from the man. He was taken by helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious condition, officials said.

The man was the only occupant of the vehicle.
