Grant Fall Fest celebrates family fun

Dozens greeted the first day of October with pumpkin carving, hay rides, a pie-eating competition and plenty of other family activities Sunday at the third annual Grant Township and village of Fox Lake Fall Festival.

Held at the Grant Township Center in Ingleside, the fest also featured more than 50 craft and food vendors, a petting zoo and the Big Rig Expo that allowed kids to get an up-close look at township and emergency vehicles.

"It gets bigger and bigger every year," said Ruth Michniewicz, one of the event's organizers. "We get a lot of compliments after the fact of what a great family fun day it is."

The day kicked off with a pancake breakfast will be hosted by the Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
