Man charged with killing co-worker at Hampshire meatpacking plant

A Rockford man is accused of killing a co-worker at a meatpacking plant in Hampshire by throwing a knife at him Wednesday.

Ler Htoo, 24, is charged with the involuntary manslaughter of 22-year-old Ai Moo Say, also of Rockford, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Htoo, acting recklessly, threw a knife at Say that struck him in the heart, according to a news release.

Htoo was being held on $100,000 bail at the Kane County jail. He must post $10,000 to be released. His next court date is Aug. 18.

If he posts bond, he must wear a GPS monitoring device, and cannot return to the Malcolm Meats/Buckhead Beef meatpacking plant at 200 Flannigan Road.

If convicted, he could face a sentence of probation to up to five years in prison.
