Arlington Heights offers loans for home upgrades

Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the village's single-family rehabilitation loan program, which gives 0 percent interest, deferred loans to low and moderate income homeowners for home repairs.

No monthly payments are required, and loans are repaid when the homeowner is no longer the owner-occupant of the home, typically upon the sale of the property, officials said.

Eligible home repairs are those needed to bring the home into compliance with village code, including new roofs, electrical and plumbing work, window replacement, energy efficiency improvements, and modifications to improve handicap accessibility.

Those eligible must make an annual taxable income of less than $43,050 for a household size of one. For additional income limits and more information, contact (847) 368-5214.
