Roadway extension should help Rolling Meadows traffic, officials say

Construction of a roadway extension should improve traffic flows to and from offices in a Rolling Meadows business park, city officials say.

Squibb Avenue will be extended and reconstructed from Apollo Drive to Ring Road this summer, providing access from the Meadows Corporate Center, Arthur J. Gallagher and Meadows Club to the existing traffic signal at Ring and Golf roads.

Squibb, now two lanes, was owned as a private street by J.C. Restoration until it was dedicated for public street purposes earlier this year. The street is expanding to three lanes after School Health Corp. agreed last month to dedicate an additional 20 feet of right of way as part of its purchase and planned redevelopment of the Charles Industries property.

The city council last week approved a $576,797 construction contract, with work expected to be complete by October.
