Township Inaugural Ball: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, Village Bar & Grill, 48 Raupp Blvd., Buffalo Grove. The Aviva/Lilah Group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will hold a fundraising dinner with a murder mystery program presented by the Saint Sebastian Players of Chicago. Artist reception: 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, Lake County Discovery Museum, 27277 N. Forest Preserve Road, Wauconda. Reception for artist Sarajane Avidon and her exhibition "Places You Can't Go," featuring postcard-sized, mail art collages that use maps, postage stamps, rubber stamps and advertising images to transport the viewer to mythical places. The exhibition also features "The Amazing Atlas of Imaginary Places," which documents places like Oz, Shangri-La and Glocca Morra. The reception is free with museum admission.
