Township Inaugural Ball: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, Village Bar & Grill, 48 Raupp Blvd., Buffalo Grove. Reception for artist Sarajane Avidon and her exhibition "Places You Can't Go," featuring postcard-sized, mail art collages that use maps, postage stamps, rubber stamps and advertising images to transport the viewer to mythical places. The exhibition also features "The Amazing Atlas of Imaginary Places," which documents places like Oz, Shangri-La and Glocca Morra. The reception is free with museum admission.
