Dining bites: Restaurants adding new fall flavors

Autumn additions

As the season has changed, suburban restaurants have been adding fall flavors. Here are some new eats to look forward to:

CityGate Grille: Why not start with a treat? The new fall dessert menu includes a layered chocolate tart, warm pumpkin pound cake with vanilla gelato, Greek yogurt cheesecake with a baklava crust and apple cider caramel drizzle, and amaretto pecan pie garnished with praline sauce. There's a new drink, too: The caramel apple martini made with Crown Royal Apple, apple cider, cranberry juice and caramel. The restaurant is at 2020 Calamos Court, Naperville, (630) 718-1010, citygategrille.com/.

Domino's: The pizza giant recently added three oven-baked dips to pair with its bread twists. Options include the cheesy marinara dip and five cheese dip, both of which come with Parmesan or garlic bread twists, and the baked apple dip, which is served with handmade cinnamon bread twists. The Dips & Twists Combos cost $7.99. Domino's has locations across the suburbs. dominos.com/.

Krispy Skreme: Halloween has taken over at Krispy Kreme. There are four new doughnuts - Abra Cat Dabra (an Original Glazed dipped in chocolate icing and decorated to look like a cat), Bewitched Broomstick (a Kreme-filled doughnut decorated in purple icing with gold stars and a pretzel broomstick), Enchanted Cauldron (a glazed chocolate cake doughnut decorated like a cauldron) and Spooky Sprinkle (an Original Glazed covered in orange icing and decorated with Halloween sprinkles) - that are available through Oct. 31. Plus, Saturdays in October are Saturday Scary Sharies, meaning that for every dozen purchased, a second dozen is $1. And on Halloween, anyone who stops by Krispy Kreme in costume can get a free doughnut. Locations are at 412 E. Devon Ave., Elk Grove Village; 110 S. Mannheim Road, Hillside; 9150 S. Western Ave., Evergreen Park; 17815 S. Halsted St., Homewood; and 108 N. State St., Chicago; krispykreme.com/.

Lou Malnati's: For a limited time, Lou's will be serving up the Italian Combo pizza that's topped with Italian beef, sausage and spicy hot giardiniera. It can be ordered in deep dish or thin crust. With locations across the suburbs, see loumalnatis.com/ for details.

Table at Crate: Warm up with new dishes such as the Korean BBQ Ramen that can be topped with fried tofu, chicken, shrimp or beef larb and the Cauliflower Lasagna made with ricotta, pecorino and mozzarella. Plus, sip on a new fall cocktail such as the Passion Fruit Sangria made with white vermouth, chinola and triple sec. And for weekend brunch, available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, consider the Chive Crepe Pillows or the Vegetable and Sourdough Strata made with spicy pork shoulder, bacon, tomato sauce, farmer's egg and Asian giardiniera.
