Maine East High School could become COVID-19 vaccination site for educators

As Maine Township High School District 207 officials wait to learn if Maine East High in Park Ridge will be a COVID-19 vaccination site, volunteers are being sought to help with operations.

"We are seeking volunteers right now as a proactive approach," Superintendent Ken Wallace wrote in a letter to the District 207 community Tuesday. "We want to be as prepared as possible if we are notified we have become a vaccination site."

The school would serve as vaccination site for school staff from District 207, Des Plaines Elementary District

62, East Maine Elementary District 63, Park Ridge Elementary District 64, Norridge-based Pennoyer School District and private/parochial schools in the area, Wallace wrote.

While not confirmed, the site might also provide shots to other area residents who are eligible for vaccines at this time, he added.

"As you can imagine, there are many logistics and details that need to be worked out for this to occur," Wallace wrote.

Medical professionals and laymen might be needed as screeners, vaccinators, receptionists, vaccine runners, observers, supervisors, safety officers and security officers.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

To sign up, visit the Illinois Department of Public Health website, illinoishelps.net, and complete a volunteer form. Select "State COVID-19 Mass Vaccination" when completing the form.

Potential volunteers must also complete a District 207 form available at docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe43iQ7JIGax23MFhLvl6Ui-HU8d3c5P_TCNhTyhL1mmcsNHA/viewform.

People who complete the form are not obligated to volunteer.
