Metropolis hires associate artistic director

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights has hired Sabrina Odigie for the newly created role of associate artistic director.

Odigie, a Chicago-born and raised comedy writer, director and longtime nonprofit worker, will work with Executive Artist Director Joe Keefe to expand the scope of voices and perspectives that shape the theater's art, officials said.

"Theater is a living art form, constantly evolving and expanding, exploring far horizons," Keefe said in an announcement of the hire. "Sabrina is an immensely talented artist who brings a trove of fresh directions to our theater. I look forward to creating great performing art with her."

Odigie is returning to her roots in the theater, after working for a TV network in New York and training with Upright Citizens Brigade and The Pit.
