Hoffman Estates to host Halloween event outside Now Arena

In their desire to provide a safe alternative to traditional ways of celebrating Halloween, Hoffman Estates officials have organized a socially-distanced drive-in event outside the Now Arena.

The family-friendly Halloween event Saturday, Oct. 31, will allow for a socially distanced visit with popular costumed characters in the parking lot of the arena, followed by a screening of the short film "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

The parking lot will open for the character visits at 5 p.m. and the film will start at sundown, approximately 6:30 p.m. The event is expected to wrap up by 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 per vehicle and must be purchased in advance by visiting nowarena.com.

The event will strictly enforce COVID-19 protocols, including the maintaining of a 6-foot distance from people in other parties and that face coverings must be worn whenever that distance is even neared. No socializing with people from other groups or vehicles will be permitted.

The audio for the movie will be broadcast on FM radio, and vehicles are required to have their headlights and other exterior lights off during the screening.

Attendees are asked to check that they are able to turn off their lights while keeping their radio on before arriving at the event. If not, they are asked to bring a portable radio with them.

Patrons are also asked to take all their trash away from the site, though they may request a trash bag while picking up food orders.

Anyone not following the guidelines for the event will be asked to leave without a refund.
